To celebrate the holiday season, we have put together a list of delectable Italian desserts sure to please any crowd!
White Profiteroles
When translated, profiteroles mean cream puffs. This snack is perfect for those planning large holiday get-togethers. Traditionally, profiteroles are served with many different types of filling and topping combinations. For example, raspberry, orange, and pistachio flavorings are some of the most popular and desired fillings.
At Pastamore, we make our white profiteroles with chocolate filling and a vanilla cream coating. A must try any time of the year!
Tiramisu
Next up is one of the most requested when it comes to Italian desserts. Similar to a cake in appearance, Tiramisu is light, fluffy, and full of unexpected flavors. Furthermore, unlike cake, this desert is not baked in an oven. Tiramisu consists of layers of espresso flavored sponge cake or ladyfingers that are divided with mascarpone cream. Once layered together, everything is topped with cocoa powder. Depending on the chef and level of authenticity, you may find some recipes that incorporate liquor.
Cannolis
Cannolis are one of the best-known and loved desserts from the Sicilian region of Italy. Like the profiteroles, they are also great for large holiday get-togethers as they come in a wide variety of flavors. Traditionally, a cannoli iis a tube-shaped shell made of ingredients such as flour, cocoa, sugar, coffee, and butter. Next, the shell is stuffed with a ricotta and sugar filling. In some recipes, you may find chocolate chips or nuts incorporated into the filling.
Gelato
Gelatos are sometimes called the healthier alternative to standard ice cream. While both are delicious, they are pretty different in the creation process. Traditional gelato is made with less cream and more milk than ice cream. In addition, gelato omits the usage of egg yolks, which are a common ingredient found in ice cream.
When visiting Pastamore, you will find many different gelato flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, peach, lemon, and vanilla.
